Hurlyvale Primary School Cultural Activities
At Hurlyvale we feel that creating a holistic learner is very important. This is why we offer a variety of Cultural activities, along with the sporting programme. Cultural activities on offer are choir, percussion & marimba, concert, eisteddfod, chess, public speaking, art club, zumba, cooking club, wildlife club, flourish club, bible club, debating, drumming, cultural club, science club, arts and crafts, computer club, coding and robotics.
Eisteddfod
The Eisteddfod is a cultural festival that originated in Wales and is celebrated in many countries around the world. At Hurlyvale Primary School, we hold an annual Eisteddfod where our students take part in performing individual and group poetry. Singing and instruments are also part of the Eisteddfod. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and creativity.
Percussion Group
Our instrumental group plays for Eisteddfod and school functions. Join the percussion group and learn how to play different types of percussion instruments. It’s a great way to develop your musical skills and have fun with your classmates.
Drama Clubs
Do you love acting and performing? Join one of our drama clubs for junior and senior learners. Learn how to express yourself, develop your confidence, and work as part of a team to put on a great show.
Cooking Club
Foundation Phase students can learn to cook and bake in our fun and interactive cooking club. Learn how to make delicious and healthy meals while developing your cooking skills. You might even discover a passion for culinary arts!
Chess Club
Join our chess club and sharpen your strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Chess is a great way to challenge your mind, develop your critical thinking, and have fun with your classmates.
Art Clubs
We have clubs for both junior and senior students to unleash their creativity and explore their artistic talents. Join our art clubs and learn different techniques and styles, from painting and drawing to sculpture and collage.
Wildlife Club
Grade 3 students can learn more about nature and animal life in our Wildlife Club. Learn about the different animals that live in our environment, their habitats, and how we can protect them. It’s a great way to connect with nature and learn about the world around us.
Library
Our library is open Monday to Thursday afternoons. Join our reading club for a fun way to encourage reading. Reading is a great way to expand your knowledge, develop your vocabulary, and stimulate your imagination.
Computer Club
Our computer club is for both junior and senior learners. The computer centre is open most afternoons for research and project work. Learn how to use different software programs, develop your coding skills, and explore the world of technology.
Concerts
Concerts take place on a three-year cycle – junior, senior, Arts Alive which is a talent show. Join our concerts and showcase your musical talents. It’s a great way to perform in front of an audience, develop your stage presence, and have fun with your classmates.
Science Fair
From Grade Four to Seven annually. Join our science fair and showcase your scientific knowledge and skills. It’s a great way to learn about different scientific concepts, conduct experiments, and present your findings to the school community.
Private Music Lessons
We offer private music lessons on school premises for piano, guitar, and drumming. Develop your musical skills and learn from qualified music teachers. It’s a great way to pursue your passion for music and reach your full potential.
