Hurlyvale Primary School is a well-established and proud institution located in the heart of the Hurlyvale suburb of Edenvale, which takes its name from the historic Hurly family farm.
Our school officially opened its doors on 8 January 1975 with 292 learners. From humble beginnings with eight classrooms and an administration block, the school grew rapidly, with enrolment more than doubling by the time the full building, including the hall and senior wing, was completed in January 1976.
The school was officially opened by Prof. J.H. Jooste in October 1976. Over the decades, we have been led by dedicated Headmasters and Principals, including our current Principal, Mrs D. Schoultz, who was appointed in 2021.
We are committed to maintaining the high reputation and proud traditions that define Hurlyvale Primary School and look forward to the future success of our learners.
Our school is characterised by a friendly, happy atmosphere in which learners are encouraged to develop intellectually, morally, physically and socially.
