At Hurlyvale Primary we are committed to supporting children who are neurodiverse; that is children who have different learning styles and needs. We have a dedicated IEP Centre which consists of a class for each of the Foundation Phase grades (1-3). IEP, Internal Education Programme, aims to provide support to learners who are not meeting their full potential and may require interventions to overcome barriers to learning. These classes support identified learners by providing a smaller environment of approximately 15 children. This is a space where they will continue to follow the curriculum while receiving additional support through learning skills and strategies which aim to equip them to best reach their full potential. Our newly renovated centre is child-focused and is equipped with a variety of different teaching and learning resources including a sensory room where learners can go to self-regulate. Through careful screening, learners are identified, selected and then invited to join our IEP Programme.
