At Hurlyvale Primary School, we take great pride in our Governing Body, which is made up of 12 members. The Governing Body comprises of parent members, educator members, and a non-educator member. These members are elected for a 3-year term of office and are entrusted with all areas of governance.

Functions of the School Governing Body
The School Governing Body is a statutory body comprising parents, educators and staff who are elected for a 3-year term of office. The SGB has the prime obligation to shape and influence what is offered to the learners at Hurlyvale Primary School and is entrusted with all areas of governance as below:
- Promote the best interests of the school & strive to ensure its development via the provision of quality education for all learners through strong business management;
- Adopt a code of conduct for learners at the school;
- Administer and control the school's property, buildings and grounds;
- Prepare and manage an annual budget which shows the estimated income and expenditure of the school;
- Enforce, by process of law, the payment of school fees;
- Ensure and maintain effective channels of communication between the School Governing Body, staff, educators, parents and learners;
- Serve the school with commitment, pride and enthusiasm.
